Nicholas Roerich: Exemplar in the Search for the Infinite
Last night at our team-leader meeting, near the end it was shared that we can call to the Ascended Master Nicholas Roerich to help us with the situation in Crimea, in Russia, in Ukraine.
I believe that Nicholas Roerich exemplifies for all of us the search. Many of you know, having read his life story, or at least portions of it, that he traveled with his wife, Helena, and I believe at least one or maybe both of their sons, a number of times to the Far East, reaching into Tibet, India and other regions in that area, searching for the mystical, the divinely arcane truths that had been deposited there by very conscious beings. They searched for Shambhala and ultimately found it deep within their own hearts: a symbol of this great divine civilization sponsored by Kartikeya, also known as Sanat Kumara, Ahura Mazda and the Ancient of Days.
Nicholas Roerich ascended and, as we understand it, Helena reembodied. Looking at the word search, I see the word reach when some of the letters are transposed. And I believe a search, which all of us have engaged in, is an activity of us reaching up and inward to our Source to find God. The search is our sacred journey, our trek of light to know who we are and to find the truth through the Way and within the Life that we lead. If one were to read all of what Nicholas Roerich and Helena Roerich shared, especially if we could read it in their native Russian language, I believe we would be amazed to find an entire book of life that would bring us to the same fount of higher truth that many of us have sought.
We must reach the highest heights through constancy, striving, through climbing the highest mountain of Self. Within this word search is also the word ear. To have that listening ear, to be able to hear the voice of God within us is key. We may actually come to the Source and yet if we are not fully ready or able to hear, to see, to feel, to know, we may not secure for ourselves that illumination, that wisdom teaching that we have sought, that we require and that can be fully restored to us and instilled within us for our victory. The search also requires, obviously, seeing, and sometimes that seeing requires the searing of our vision into a higher vision so that we can see beyond the human veil into the divine worlds, the supermundane worlds, as they termed it.
Nicholas Roerich captured on canvas and all the various media on which he painted the infinite, infinity, the sublime, the beautiful, amazing vistas of light. And he always wove something of the mystical and the spiritual within that which he painted—thousands of paintings, which are housed now both in private and public collections, a museum in New York, a museum in Moscow and elsewhere. There are a number of wonderful books about his life, showing his artwork. They are worth the expense for us to at least check out, dive into, partake of and feel as we reflect and look upon these images to see what Nicholas was perceiving, the energy that he beheld within the vista that he painted, and oftentimes what was going on behind the scenes as he experienced, through his own inner vision and inner life, ascended beings, masters, saints and sages East and West.
I believe the people of Russia, the people of Ukraine are searching, in their own way, for a higher way. We may not fully know all that is transpiring in Ukraine and Crimea from the vantage point of truth, wisdom teaching, freedom and liberty because our media, the mass media, is tainted and slanted, biased toward a particular worldview. We have to go beyond the media view to a holistic, universal, objective view, understanding history, peoples, places, traditions, interactions. I believe that Nicholas can help us to perceive all of this and that when we call to him he will assist in bringing about the highest resolution of this situation and crisis.
We value, in America, freedom. Not all nations value freedom in the same way that we do. Some value heritage, custom, ancestry almost more than freedom. Some value the way of life that they are used to, which does not always incorporate the feeling of freedom that those of us born or evolving upon the Western shores feel. The Chinese people, for instance, may value other ideals or virtues. Maybe they feel secure, in a certain sense, and they don’t feel as a whole that it’s necessary to secure individual freedom, as many of us in the West do. They may be more focused upon growing their own food or securing the resources to simply have life itself. So if we understand this dynamic in a greater context, we will not necessarily judge other cultures as harshly as sometimes we in the United States do, because we have a perspective that is not the same perspective as what all other cultures have.
When the Roerichs traveled to the Far East, they tapped into the divine records of Jesus’ ministry in India. Nicholas Roerich, as well as Nicholas Notovitch, found the actual records at Ladakh of Jesus being there—an amazing journey, an amazing revelation, truth coming out for the world to know.
Look at your life and see where your search has gone, where it is now and where it will continue. As we evolve, I believe that we will always continue searching for a deeper, more intimate union with our Source, a oneness with God that we affirm and declare openly. We have to declare it; we have to aver it; we have to truly feel this unified field of beingness on a daily basis and have self-restored within us this essence of our Presence so that it is always glowing right within our auric field and flowing through our hearts, our chakras, our power centers. There is so much more for all of us to discover through this inner search, utilizing every gift that God can provide us when we reach the level of understanding, self-mastery and adeptship whereby we can be entrusted with greater gifts, divine powers—not for personal glory; always to assist life, to serve and to do God’s will.
When you look at the image of Nicholas Roerich, you may see a somewhat stern and seemingly severe individual. And yet I don’t see severity; I see an intensity of beingness, of oneness based on one soul, with his beloved, in search of the Divine or the Infinite, or as Ouspensky said of Gurdjieff, in search of the miraculous, which, as all true teachers share with us, is within ourselves.
In the name of the living God, we call to you beloved Ascended Master Nicholas Roerich to shine forth your light throughout Russia, Eastern Europe and especially Ukraine and the Crimean area, the Black Sea, the Urals, all of the former Soviet republics. We accept now that this light of your Presence is finding the way, the truth and the life of the current dilemma and bringing the highest outcome with the least amount of loss of life, anguish, suffering, pain and severity, and we ask for harmony, peace, truth, understanding and progress to be made manifest in all cultures. We call for the exposure of the machinations of the dark ones, for the revelation of the truth to all peoples throughout the world so that we may energetically serve to set all life free for the highest purpose.
We ask, we accept now, beloved Nicholas Roerich, that you, as an artisan of the Spirit, shine forth the flame of divine love from that sacred chalice that you held on behalf of Russia, the Far East, Europe and America. We also acknowledge and affirm the importance of the treaty known as the Roerich Pact¹ that insures the securing of the treasures of light in the art world, free from violence and destruction. We ask that your dream be fulfilled in all nations, that your vision for a world of peace, of art, of love and prosperity also come to fruition.
We accept and we see being broadcast throughout the world the truths that you and your beloved Helena shared with the world through the Agni Yoga Society. And we thank those who have put your teachings on the Internet for free in a true Aquarian model of openness so that all may read and self-discover themselves. We call for the acceleration of light and for these wisdom teachings that you have borne to the Earth to be translated further into other languages and shared with every soul who is ready to receive and assimilate them.
We ask that this call be sustained twenty-four hours a day and that as we call to heart and to mind the situation in Ukraine that we will reignite it again and again and find it manifesting through our simple and generous prayers, divine requests, affirmations, fiats, calls, invocations and rosaries of light. We ask for the full-gathered momentum, and we accept that momentum manifest now, of all the saints, ascended beings whom you touched in your journeys, in your imagery. And we ask that these shine forth today throughout that region for the victory of the light, for the truth to truly be known, for the divine way to be exposed, and for God’s holy will, wisdom and love to be achieved, realized, now and forevermore. We accept it, we realize it, we feel it, we are it in the I AM name of God. Amen.
1. The Roerich Pact is an inter-American treaty for the protection of artistic and scientific institutions and historic monuments. The seminal purpose of the Roerich Pact is for governments to legally recognize that the defense of cultural objects is more important than military defense, and the protection of culture always has precedence over military necessities.
